A new boat dealership will be opening in Ontario this spring. Makin Waves Inc., a soon-to-be 6,000 square-foot dealership is currently under construction on a two-acre site in Bancroft, ON. The dealership will also have 73 acres in available storage space. Makin Waves is expected to open March 1 with an official grand opening to follow in May or June.

Approximately, 3,000 square feet of the dealership will be dedicated to showroom space, with the other 3,000 square feet reserved for service.

“We intend to sell, service and store boats,” says Bob Putman, one of Makin Waves’ Owners. “We currently have three boat lines including Legend, Stingray and Hornet Marine boats. We’re also a dealer of Mercury and MerCruiser engines. Next year, we intend to sell and service snowmobiles and ATVs.”

In addition to Bob Putman, Makin Waves ownership also includes Doug Putman and Jamie Busby.

Doug Putman will be promoting the opening of the new dealership as well as displaying two Hornet Marine sport boats at the upcoming Toronto International Boat Show opening January 14.

Although Makin Waves already has an experienced service technician, the dealership will be looking to hire additional help in the near future. “Our service person has been in the marine business for more than 12 years,” says Bob Putman. “He is up-to-date on all the Mercury courses, has a strong following in the area and his customers will follow him to Makin Waves. He has a reputation of being one of the best service techs in the area.”

Bob Putman believes there will be a demand for his business in Bancroft with approximately 3,000 cottages in his dealership’s immediate area. “We feel with our business experience and qualified staff, our dealership will be a huge success. We are experts at managing inventory in our current business and we will bring that same expertise to our new business and manage our cash flow correctly.”
